This session will be held during the 2022 New Jersey Planning & Redevelopment Conference. The NJ Department of Human Services Division of Disability Services initiated the Inclusive Healthy Communities (IHC) grant program in 2020 to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in efforts to drive lasting policy, systems and environmental change leading to healthy and equitable communities. The first cohort of 18 grantees are working throughout New Jersey on a variety of planning initiatives on topics including transportation, food security, access to open space, municipal decision-making, emergency management, and housing. This session will highlight the work of several IHC grantees, including an overview of their experiences, lessons learned, and future opportunities for community planning. Program Director for Community Engagement, Lauren Skowronski, will represent Sustainable Jersey during the session.
